power of breath, movement, stillness
Breath cleanses the body. Your yoga practice is an opportunity to practice conscious breath, observe proper body alignment, and co-ordinate breath and movement with grace, composure, and the knowledge and acceptance of personal limitations. Become aware and in the present moment as the breath moves and strengthens the body and muscles. You’ll learn stillness to observe the ease and flow of breath and body.
. . .be still and melt the difficulty or tension with awareness . . .
The series is designed to scientifically warm and stretch muscles, ligaments and tendons in a specific order. The 90 minute program is designed to deliver total health through the balancing and strengthening of every system in the body in order to prevent illness, injury, and limit the effects of aging. The series of postures combine skills of concentration, faith, patience, determination, and self control, which lead to increased mental clarity and reduced stress. Bikram Yoga is a head-to-toe, inside-out workout.
“Never too late, never too bad, never too old, never too sick to start from scratch all over again.” Bikram Choudhury
Whether you are a new student or advanced in your practice; yoga is just that—a practice. One can always learn harder poses or hold them longer. However, the longer we practice the more yoga teaches us that there really is no point in striving for perfection, in our practice or in our body. That's why daily practice is so important.
What you learn on your mat can be applied to your life. Personal insights and observation of bodily sensations, feelings, and mental processes can help us to start to practice the release of our habitual and unwholesome reactions to stressful stimuli in our daily lives.
Be transformed, transform others. Laugh, stretch, and have fun!
